Me: Hi, I'm Bigdog and I'm a warezaholic.
Everyone: Hi, Bigdog!
=====
I'm new here, and here at the invitation of thepitster on a board that is so old that almost all of our members have either grown up and have RL endeavors or have died off. I'm grown up, but I still like the camaraderie of the boards, and I haven't quite died yet, so I thought I would check it out.
I have been involved in the small computer scene as long as there has been a small computer scene. My first computer was an Altair 8800 with the flippendeswitches and the blinkendelightens and all that, circa 1978. I have never looked back. I have stuck with Intel all the way, no Apples, thank you very much.
I remember the joy in scoring an 8" floppy disk containing a copy of Microsoft BASIC "from a friend"... and that was a time when M$ BASIC cost $500... $500 in 1979 dollars (which is about $1,750 dollars in 2019 dollars). Imagine a basic piece of software that cost $1,750!
Later, into the PC days, I remember very laboriously downloading my first 50 megabyte fileset over a telephone modem... some business program or other which instantly crashed MSDOS and required a format and reinstall. POS!
Anyway, I am sure I will find the people here friendly and helpful, and I'll try to be the same.
